Lahore is home to many exotic historical locations and one of the many is Shahi Qila also called Lahore fort. It is a huge bewitching fortress expanded up to an area of 20 hectares. Lahore fort accommodates 21 historical monuments, which were built during the rule of Mughal Emperor Akbar. Shahi Qila as suggested by its name is a splendid representation of the royal period of the Mughals. One thrilling fact about Lahore fort is that its founder is untold. UNESCO listed it in World Heritage Sites in the year 1981. When visiting the Shahi Qila, you will be entering through the Alamgiri Gate, which is in front of the great Badshahi Mosque. Alamgiri gate was constructed by Alamgir, which is adorned with lotus petals. This gate is a figure of firmness. Deewan-e-Aam as suggested by its name is a large hall for common people where the Kings used to communicate with the people on different affairs. This hall comprises forty pillars. Diwaane-e-Khaas was constructed by Emperor Shah Jahan for amusing important persons. Composed with pure marble it looks like a vaulted tent. A foundation in the middle of the pavilion enhances its beauty. Khwabgaah was constructed by Wazir Khan as a sleeping area for Shah Jahan. It comprises five halls made with angelic white marbles.
