DERAWAR FORT: A FASCINATING FORT IN A MAJESTIC DESERT
Situated at a distance of 130 km from Bahawalpur, Derawar Fort is a massive fortress in Ahmadpur East Tehsil of the Punjab province of Pakistan. This fortress is extremely eye-pleasing as well as fascinating. People are spell bounded with the sight of this place. The walls of the fortress are thirty meters tall. This fortress was initially built as a tribute to Rawal Deoraj Bhatti, emperor of Jaisalmer and Bahawalpur by Rai Jajja Bhatti who was the leader of the Bhatti clan. It later came under the Abbasi family and they constructed the present structure of the fort. This place has great significance in terms of tourism as well.
The bastions of Derawar fort can be seen from many miles away in the Cholistan Desert standing majestically at a height of100 ft. The Jeep Rally in the Cholistan desert is one of the highlights of this area in which participants from all over the country take part. This event is very well organized and is a great source of entertainment. Over here you can do camping as well. Derawar Fort is more beautiful from the outside. Some other fascinations near include Abbasi Masjid and Nawab’s graveyard.
