RAKAPOSHI: 27TH HIGHEST PEAK OF THE WORLD
Located between the Nagar and Bagrote valleys of the Gilgit Baltistan region of Pakistan, Rakaposhi is the 27th highest peak and is located in the magnificent Karakoram mountain range. It is about 100 km away from the city of Gilgit and stands proudly at a height of 25,550 feet.
It is the wish of every mountain climber to successfully climb this peak and the first-ever successful attempt was made in the year 1958 by Mike Banks and Tom Patey who were British. Rakaposhi is rightly given the title of “Mother of Clouds” because of its magnificent elevation and it’s being surrounded by clouds. Who wouldn’t love to be around such a stunning place where the cold water splashes from Rakaposhi’s glacier into the river of Gilgit and one can just relax and praise the God who made such breathtaking places. It surely is a surreal feeling where one feels extremely humble in front of God’s huge creations such as Rakaposhi. Some local shops are located over here from which you can take away shawls, caps, pouches or other small things which will make you remember your beautiful day spent gazing and praising the spectacular view of the mountain.
Tea shops are also present which serve hot and delicious tea which will make your experience more refreshing. Tourists recommend trying the local dish called “chup shoye” for lunch. Recommended hotels to stay nearby are Rakaposhi Paradise Hotel, Dumani Mountain Resort, and Osho Thang Hotel. For a general idea, the price rate of Osho Thang Hotel is 25 US Dollars.
