Formally known as Fort Ahmadabad, Kot Diji Fort is an 18th-century Talpur era fort in the town of Kot Diji in Khairpur District, Pakistan. Kot Diji Fort is about 25 miles east of the Indus River on the edge of the Thar Desert.
The Mir Sohrab Khan Talpur between 1785 to 1795 built Kot Diji Fort. The fort sits at a top of a 110-foot tall high hill that rises above the city of Kot Diji. The 30-foot tall wall of the fort encircles the uppermost portion of the fort, which results in a narrow width fortress with 1.8 kilometers. There are three towers at the fort each of 50 feet. The fort is home to cannon placement. There are several water reservoirs, prisons, courtrooms, and munition storages in the fort. A small regal residence is also situated in the fort.
Declared a protected heritage site in Pakistan by the government of Pakistan, portions of the Kot Diji Fort are under the control of powerful local families. The fort is a well-known tourist destination.
