ANSOO LAKE: A JAW-DROPPING WONDER
A tear-shaped lake located in Kaghan Valley in the Mansehra district of Khyber Pakhtunkhwa, Pakistan, the lake is a jaw-dropping wonder.
Located at a height of 4,245 meters above the sea level, Ansoo Lake is considered one of the highest lakes of the Himalayan Range. The lake is situated near the highest mountain, Malika Parbat in Kaghan Valley. The name is derived from the Urdu word ‘ansoo’ which means tear. The lake is named so due to its tear-drop shape.
The lake was discovered by Pakistan Air Force pilots in 1993 when they were flying at a relatively low altitude over the area. From a distance, the lake can be seen as wider on one side and thinner on the other side. Ansoo Lake has been the favorite spot for tourists from all around the world. To reach the lake, trekking of hours is required. After 5 hours of trekking, the lower side of the magical lake can be seen. The best time to visit this beautiful lake is during July and August. The lake is covered with snow during the winter season.
