MUSA KA MUSALLA: SECOND HIGHEST PEAK OF SIRAN VALLEY
Located at an altitude of 4,080 meters at the junction of Siran and Kaghan Valleys in Himalaya, Musa ka Musalla is the second highest peak of Siran Valley.
Situated 150 kilometers north of Abbottabad in Himalayas, Pakistan, Musa ka Musalla is a peak. The word musalla is derived from the Urdu language which means a prayer mat. Hence, the name means a prayer mat of Musa. It is named so because many stories of Prophet Musa are associated with this peak. There is a shrine at the top of the peak and colorful flags are placed there.
There has been a conflict in deciding whether this place is a plateau or a peak. Musa ka Musalla is accessible from many routes. The conventional Munda Gucha Route is easier and more established. The mount looks like a prayer mat. The peak is mostly snow-capped throughout the year. The localities consider Musa ka Musalla as a Ziarat spot and give importance to it. The mount is believed to have Islamic importance and thus respecting it is mandatory.
