About the Place

Located 14 miles northwest of Vivah temple, Gori Temple is a Jain temple in Nagarparkar. The temple was built in 1375 CE. The temple was exclusively allocated to Jain Tirthankar Lord Parshwanath.

Along with Jain temples, Gori Temple was included in the list for UNESCO World Heritage. The name of the temple has changed several times. The temple was built by Gorichom, a Jain worshipper.

The architectural design of the Gori Temple is similar to the ones in Mount Abu, Rajasthan, and India. The measurement of the temple is 125 feet by 60 feet and it is entirely built of marble. The entire temple is built on a high platform that is reached by a series of steps carved into stone.

Jain religious imagery is featured in the interiors of the temple, which is older than any other frescos in the Jain temples of North India. The temple is designed with curved pillars and the canopy entrance of the temple is decorated with paintings, which represent Jain mythology. The temple has 24 tiny cells, which might have been used to facilitate the 24 Tirthankaras of Jainism.

The temple is amazingly beautiful and has a lot of history attached to it. People from around the world come to witness these temples.
