RAWAT FORT: A MAJESTIC FORT
[vc_row][vc_column][vc_column_text]An early 16th-century fort in Pothohar Plateau of Pakistan in Rawalpindi, in the province of Punjab, Rawat fort is an incredible masterpiece. The fort was built to provide a defense to the Pothohar plateau from the army of a Pashtun king named Sher Shah Suri. The port marks its presence on the Grand Trunk Road, 17 km east of Rawalpindi.

The amalgam of the fort is in ruins today but its design is unique and complex. The most prominent part of Rawat fort is its tomb. The walls of the fort are very high and arched. From the top of the tomb, Tope Mankiala can be seen which is a stupa of the Gandhara Buddhist. The Government of Pakistan has recently allocated 5.6 million Pakistani Rupees for preserving the fort and restoring it under the Public Sector Development Program 2020-2021.
