Ayubia: National Park

Also known as, Ayubia National Park, Ayubia is a secure area on 3,312 hectares in the Abbottabad District, Khyber Pakhtunkhwa, Pakistan. The location was declared as a national park in the year 1984.

Ayubia; is named after Muhammad Ayub Khan who was the second President of Pakistan. Seven major villages and three small towns at an elevation of 8,000 meters surround Ayubia National Park. The three small towns around the Ayubia are Thandiani, Nathia Gali, and Khanspur. The Wildlife and Parks Department of Government of Khyber Pakhtunkhwa currently manages Ayubia National Park.

The weather of the park is pleasant, cool during the summers, and extremely harsh during the winter season. The best time to visit Ayubia is during the mid-summer season. During the winter season, the park is snow-capped but it looks amazingly beautiful. The average rainfall at the Ayubia National Park is 1,644 mm.

Ayubia National Park is home to several floras and faunas. The park has 104 species of plants. Some of the main floral species are Cedrus Deodara, yew, blue pine, horse chestnut, silver fir, and oak. The park has numerous species of birds, mammals, reptiles, and amphibians.

Ayubia National Park is a well-known tourist spot. A famous Pipeline Walking Track runs from Ayubia to Nathia Gali. which is 4 kilometers in length. The park attracts several tourists each year. The park has a vast variety of hotels and restaurants around. Some of the main activities that can be done at the park include hiking, riding, and a chairlift. The chairlift is a major attraction for tourists. Some of the famous hotels near the park include PTDC Motel, 62 Hills, and Hotel Al-Azeem.
