ISHKOMAN VALLEY: PICTURESQUE VALLEY
Located in the north of Ghizer District in the Gilgit Baltistan region of Pakistan, Ishkoman is a valley that serves as a border between Afghanistan and Pamir Wakhan Corridor. This valley is the accommodation of about 30,000 people with over 30 villages which are built along the Ishkoman River. Flights are offered daily by Pakistan International Airlines from the capital of Pakistan, Islamabad to Gilgit Baltistan and from there, jeeps can be rented through agencies or guesthouses to travel to different valleys of Gilgit Baltistan such as Ishkoman Valley.
This valley is loved by trekkers because of its great trekking opportunities. One trek leads to the Chipursan Valley through the Chillinji Pass. This valley is situated at an elevation ranging from 7000 to 12000 feet. Ishkoman Valley also separates the Karakoram Mountain Range from the Hindu Kush. The valley is home to beautiful and well-maintained guesthouses for tourists such as the Royal Guest House which used to be the house of a Raja. A lush garden is present here from where you can eat juicy cherries and other fruits without having to pay a single penny as the fruits from the garden are free of cost for tourists.
The people of Ishkoman Valley are very sweet and courteous towards foreign visitors. The major town of this valley is called ChatorKhand whose Bazaar is enticing and one should not miss it when traveling to Ishkoman Valley. Trees of different and mouth-watering fruits are present everywhere such as walnut, cherry, and mulberry trees. A scenic waterfall called Dain is also located in the valley near ChatorKhand Bazaar where one can enjoy the view and relax his mind with the peaceful sound of water splashing in the river from the melted glaciers. A trout farm is also present where one can catch trout and savor the tasty fish. In short, Ishkoman Valley is a great place to spend your days.
