LAKE SAIF-UL-MULUK: FAIRY LAKE
Located in the northern end of Kaghan Valley Saif-ul-Muluk is a hilly lake nearby Naran. Saif-ul-Muluk is at an elevation of 3224m above sea level. Located above the tree line it is one of the highest lakes in Pakistan.
Saif-ul-Muluk is situated in the Mansehra district in the province of Khyber Pakhtunkhwa. Saif-ul-Muluk is visible from the Naran. Heavy snowfall during the winter season results in the cessation of this beautiful lake from other regions. The lake is named after a prince. A Sufi poet Mian Muhammad Bakhsh has penned down the story of the prince of Persia whose name was Saif-ul-Muluk who fell in love with a princess named Badri-ul-Jamala at this lake in his legendary fairytale Saif-ul-Muluk. The lake has an alluring and peaceful view. Boating in this lake gives a tremendous experience. Many other activities such as horse riding and trekking can be done at the lake.
A major problem is a road that leads to this beautiful place. The road is in a poor condition, which makes traveling for old age and infants a little difficult. Different food stalls are available at the top of the lake catering to the appetite of every individual. The atmosphere, landscape, and air of this place are so serene that it brings the soul at peace. Saif-ul-Muluk is listed as the fifth-best tourist spot in Pakistan. The water of the lake is greenish-blue in color.
Generally, the lake is referred to as a magical lake because in winters the water freezes inside due to the measured drop in temperature. The lake gets back in its normal flowing position during the summers. The best time to visit this beautiful lake is surely in the summers because the weather is enjoyable at that time which adds to the amazing experience at the lake. Camping at the side of this beautiful lake along with mountains in the surrounding and stars shining bright in the sky Saif-ul-Muluk is an ideal place to spend the holiday.
