NAMAL LAKE: BREATH-TAKING LAKE

Located near Rikhi, a village on one corner of the Namal valley in Mianwali District, in the province of Punjab, Pakistan, Namal Lake was formed following the construction of Namal Dam in 1913. The Namal Dam is at a distance of 32 kilometers from Mianwali. The mesmerizing lake has a surface area of 5.5 kilometers. To meet the shortage of irrigation and ingesting water, British engineers built a dam here in 1913.

There are mountains on both sides and Namal Lake is situated at one corner of Mianwali. The lake is surrounded by agricultural areas. Namal Lake is home to migratory birds in the winter season. Thousands of waterfowls including Russian ducks and Siberian cranes reside at the lake during winters.  The eye-catching view of the lake and mountains around is surely a treat for the tourists. The misty mornings and rosy sunsets at this beautiful lake are a treat to watch. The lake has a scenic view and one can refresh their mind by sitting at the shore of the river listening to the melodious voice of birds around.
