History of Parachinar:

The name “Parachinar” has a very interesting story behind it. About 200 years ago there was a reputed malik from Para Khel Tribe of Pashtuns. He planted a poplar tree in this area. So, this tree and the entire land around this tree belonged to Parakhel Tribe. The people living around this tree used to gather around for meetings, jirgas, and consultations. Due to such social meetings around the area, this land was named Parachinar instead of Bazar Totkai.
